Strategic Plan: To increase the sponsorship of your team
Phase 1 : Identifying strenghts
Initially you should identify what positive values are associated with your club and how they can be linked to a company’s brand. Sacrifice, commitment, fair play, self-improvement are some examples that are of interest.
Phase 2 : Potential impact
What is your club’s engagement ? Spectators, media followers, social mass, subscribers. All this data must be transparent so that companies know your potential.
Phase 3 : Market sampling
What companies are there in your environment that want to sponsor women’s sports ? Is there an established culture of sponsorship ? This initial information is nexessary to set a strategy. It is always better to be current in the local environment since companies look for proximity to their potential customers.
Phase 4 : Proactif contact
Contact with companies should come from the club. A first official contact should be established by email or phone call. Subsequently, a face-to-face meeting is arranged to present the sponsorship plan. It is important to use a good previous preparation supported by audiovisual material (promotional video, PowerPoint, etc,).
Phase 5 : Visibility
What elements can be sponsored? Nowadays many teams allow brands to include their name next to the team’s name, put their logo on the shields and include their institutional colour on the kits. The possibilities are endless. It is important to be clear from the begining which elements can be sponsored and which cannot.
Phase 6 : Agreement
The sponsorship relationship must be formalised legally and agreed upon by the parties. It is important to sign a contract specifying the duration of the sponsorship, the obligations of the parties and the remuneration received (in cash or in kind).
